RackstrawConcepts! - Happy 7/1

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry

The first half of the year ended yesterday.

Good time to reinvigorate those New Years resolutions and whatnot. Ask yourself how they're going. If you're off the wagon for anything, set a new goal and try again.

I remember mine, of course.

Dear Rackstraw. I'm new to this posting stuff, so I hope it's the right
way to contact you.

I found your posting for The Gimli Glider Part 1, posted on Nov 9, 2005
on RackstrawConcepts! through an internet search.

Did you ever post part 2 & 3? I would love to have them to read. Can you
let me know where they might be found?

Any help in getting part 2 & 3 would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry if this is not the right way to contact you. I'm still learning.

New Years Resolutions?

(Link)
I am completely content waking up everyday and seeing that the world hasn't been blown up, my cable/internet still works, KISS isn't dead yet, The Old Republic is still in the making and I have never more than 2 gray hairs make themselves known at a time - as well as there have been no invasion of astroids/aliens/the man/Jerry Springer/zombies/Jesus...

Personally for me, resolutions are merely the resolve of a problem - wagering dares to myself only incriminates any viable yet unconfirmed intention, let alone any actual menial accomplishment...

Of course I am known to be cynical while completely optimistic to the point of childishly naive...

I also had a problem playing cowboys and indians when I was younger cuz I couldn't tell who was supposed to win...

Yes, but I know him in real life! Knew? When I lived in Urbana, Ben and I both worked for the university library. Admittedly, I know him better online than in person; I first friended him because he made hilarious contributions to the local lj group.

(This is Klara, btw.)

I can tell you a little about that.

The post you read was an excerpt I transcribed, word for word, from a random trivia book. Unfortunately, I never got around to the other two parts of the story, no.

The book is part of the Bathroom Reader series by "Uncle John." However there are many books in this series; dozens at least. I want to say the one I transcribed from had a light green (paperback) spine. You can check BathroomReader.com for general information but there's no way that I can see to search for content.

If I come across the exact book again, I'll let you know. Alternatively, you can look up the Gimli Glider on wikipedia.

Good luck!

Dear Al,
Thanks for the response. I have the trivia book.
It's from the Uncle John's Bathroom reader series
and is the vol. entitled "Uncle John's Slightly
Irregular Bathroom reader" and that's how I
came across this fantastic grippin tale.

I was looking for the text on the internet to
avoid doing just exactly what you did so I
could just e-mail it along to all my friends!

Whew! that must have been a lot of work
for you! At least now, I'll know to stop looking
for pt 2 & 3. Many thanks for your reply!

Now, I'll just probably scan the pages and
save them as jpgs

Thanks again.

Mike
